I attended the concert and also listened its broadcast from ABC classical fm, a sparking and witty piece, its distinctive style and taste is an amazement. I pretty enjoed the drastic rhythm and intensity( as the title indicated, magic fantasy).Concepts of contemporary music is mysterious, i did prepare my possible frown before the concert, but not for your piece, Matthew. In certain extent, except witnessing composers' narcissism and grotesqueness, i wonder what we might expect from a contemporary music concert for an audience without being "well-educated". Probably contemporary music does not have to show its rebellious features to distinguish itself from an old and alredy-well -established tradition, or basically please let it not scare some people who might potentially become its enthusiasts. It takes me several years to start listening contemporary music, ( i can not say i am well-educated in classical way, neither), and i have to say it is not an easy feeling. The reason why i listen contemporary music is because i am fascinated by the exploration for the music(though frown is unavoidable) and this process opens our minds and enriches our understanding for both music and ourselves. I appreciate this festival and by frowning, confusion, contemplation and rejoicing, i do learn a lot. Many thanks for your music and best wishes!

NB: this comment was written at 1am, and maybe i was raving at that moment!!!!
