In my spare time, I am the artistic director and founder of the Aurora Festival, a new contemporary music festival held every two years in western Sydney. It takes place this year (2006) from 29 April to 7 May.
The Aurora Festival website is now active.
There are so many tremendously exciting aspects to the festival, including our three featured composers: Terry Riley (on his first visit to Australia), Michael Daugherty (also from the US) and Stuart Greenbaum.
It’s amazing what support people can get for their ideas if they approach others and see if they are involved. For example, for the Aurora Festival, ABC Classic FM and the Campbelltown Arts Centre in particular have been amazing.
