Two new works - Piano Trio, Song of Life

Posted on Wednesday 7 February 2007

Two new works have recently been completed.

My Piano Trio was to have been premiered by the Macquarie Trio in 2006, however due to a range of factors it will now be premiered by a piano trio at the Camden Haven Festival in Kendall, NSW on 21 April 2007 as part of a concert of my music. The piece is in a typical three-movement form and features ensemble playing commonly found within the traditions of the piano trio genre. Its three movements are entitled “Moto Perpetuo”, “Repetitions” and “Epic Diva”, and the latter two of these incorporate musical structures from fields of electronic dance music.

Arthur Bridge

Song of Life is a one-page work for solo violin, written as a tribute to that most amazing of figures in Australian music, Fr. Arthur Bridge (pictured left). Fr. Bridge has no peer in the Australian music scene: every year he raises thousands of dollars from corporate sponsors, all of which are ploughed into the development of music and dance.

I was at the CHMF concert today, and was stunned by your music. I was also a bit ashamed that we didn’t rally a larger audience for this amazing performance. I am quite proud, however, that we were the site for your initial performances of a couple of works.
